The First 100 Years are the Toughest
I realize the name – “World’s Oldest Travel Agent” may be presumptuous and subject to challenge by someone out there who is older than I, who works 5 days a week as a travel agent, as I enjoy doing. But if they are out there, I say, “bring it on!” and I will confer that status to you officially. (But I’ll keep my website). My own mother, Margaret, a strong willed hard working Scottish woman lived well and independently until age 98. With a wry sense of humor, she would poke fun at her own old age (and resilience) by saying “The first hundred years are the hardest.”
And now, at 94 years of age, I find myself borrowing that line from her. But the first hundred years are also the most exciting, so why stop now? I am so grateful for my general health, mobility and independence, which I believe my travels throughout the world have contributed to. Most of all, I am grateful to our fabulous and talented staff whom I consider my extended family. Many of them have been working side by side with me for decades. They are the wind beneath my wings – the wings that have allowed me to travel to wonderful and far away places.
